• Most men see this as a chore but there are a few simple measures you can take to make it a more skin friendly-experience.

• Electric razors while quick are nearly always harsh on the skin and tend to pull the hair. The solution is to soften the hair first. However a wet shave is by far the best way to get a close shave that will be kind to the skin.

• Make sure the beard is thoroughly wet to swell and soften the hair. Use warm water to open the pores.

• Massage your cream into the area to be shaved. An oil or cream will give the best results and be a lot less drying. Foams may give a great lather but can really dry and irritate the skin.

• Make sure your razor is really sharp.

• Shave in the same direction as the hair growth. Use short strokes and take care over the neck and throat.

• Rinse your razor in HOT water (especially important if you are using an oil.)

• Finish by rinsing off excess cream or oil with cool water. Ideally use a toner after wards to remove any residue, close the pores and refresh the skin.

• Use an after shave balm on the shaved areas if it feels irritated. Use a moisturizer over the rest of the face and neck to keep skin firm and supple.
